Import risk categories for POAO products

From 31 October 2023, to import animal products from the EU into Great Britain, you’ll need to: find the Target Operating Model (TOM) risk category for the commodity you’re importing follow the sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) rules for that import risk category

  • low
  • medium

It is time to start conversations with your EU supplier  or UK buyer  about  who is responsible for what:

  • VET- who will provide   you with vet checks and  what timings  they be at loading site. This varies by country and by suppliers size - please discuss and let  Transporters know.
  • How will you handle your Traces account to raise an EXPORT HEALTH CERTIFICATE
  • Are you ready for IPAFFS in order to be able to add Export Health Certificate  to the pre-advise 
  • Cost of the Inland border facility  Goods check

Currently, we do not know the cost of the Border Facilities will be charged, we are advised  the costs will be charged £23-£43 with a potential £10 discount for  low risk categories. This , however is not fully published and is subject to review. We will update  any further information once known.
